A custom-made "Fire Nico" jersey, signed by former Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić, will sell at Goldin Auctions later this month.
The jersey, which references Mavericks general manager Nico Harrision and the shocking trade that sent Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, comes with a letter of authenticity from JSA.
As of Monday, the auction had reached $1,000 with more than 19 days remaining.
Considered one of the most stunning trades in professional sports history, the most significant part of the three-team deal saw the Mavericks swap Dončić for Lakers big Anthony Davis.
The decision to trade away the franchise’s 26-year-old star player — for what many considered to be a disappointing return — has resulted in extreme vitriol toward Harrison, including widespread sentiment among Mavericks fans he should be fired.
In the aftermath, interest in Dončić’s cards, jerseys and other collectibles surged with the perennial MVP candidate headed to one of the league’s most storied franchises. According to online marketplace eBay, searches for Dončić jumped 1,150% the day after the trade.
The deal also helped drive Dončić’s jersey sales, with the NBA reporting Dončić as the top-seller for the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
In the high-end game-worn market, the jersey worn by Dončić in his “revenge game” against the Mavericks sold for $60,600 in March.
