Rory McIlroy is once again on top of the golf world, becoming the first person since Tiger Woods to win back-to-back Masters.
And even though Woods wasn't in attendance, his presence was constantly felt both on the course and in the auction world.
Two of his earliest golf trophies, from when he was 7 and 8 years old, were sold on Sunday night at Golden Age Auctions for $52,996.
The trophies were for "low gross score" and putting from competitions at the Heartwell Golf Park in Long Beach, California. Woods started playing at Heartwell at four years old. That's where is he was recognized by junior coach Rudy Duran, who coached him until he was 10. It was also at Heartwell, when he was 8, when he had his first hole-in-one.
The auction noted that most of Woods' early trophies were repurposed, but these were kept because it had Tiger's name on them. The trophies were consigned by Woods' former mentor and longtime family friends and they had been in his possession since 1990.
