The 2024-25 NFL season is officially in the books.
As the hobby turns to baseball, basketball and hockey, let’s take a look back at the season and which football players saw the most attention on eBay.
Starting with the Super Bowl, the game’s MVP, Jalen Hurts, had searches for his name increase more than 600% globally, compared to the daily average from the week prior. There were 120 searches per minute for Hurts on eBay on Feb. 9, the day he led the Eagles past the Chiefs in New Orleans.
Cooper DeJean’s birthday pick-six was the biggest moment of the rookie’s career, and interest in his cards peaked accordingly. That day searches for his name leapt 1,400% over the prior week’s daily average.
Searches for Philadelphia Eagles, unsurprisingly, climbed 90%.
Jalen Carter, A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith all experienced spikes in searches for their name as well, with Carter and Brown up more than 80%, Barkley and Goedert over 130% and Smith with a nearly 200% surge.
As for the rest of the league, trends over the regular season paint a picture of the hobby’s favorite players.
MVP Josh Allen saw a 100% increase on Jan. 19, the day he led the Bills over the Ravens, compared to the average day the week prior. Lamar Jackson, who finished behind Allen in the MVP race, had his search volume jump over 140% compared to the start of the season.
Searches for Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels were up 1,400% in January, while he led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game, compared to the start of the season. That spike saw searches reach 4,000 times per hour.
Other rookie QBs with major climbs in search volume in January compared to September were Michael Penix Jr. (over 1,200%), Drake Maye (nearly 870%), Bo Nix (nearly 840%) and Caleb Williams (more than 240%)
