Will Ferrell’s hit movie “Elf” has cemented itself in the pantheon of Christmas films alongside the likes of “It’s a Wonderful Life" and “A Christmas Story."
A costume worn by Ferrell in the 2003 movie is set to fetch big bucks this holiday season at Propstore as it goes on the auction block with a pre-sale estimate of $130,500 to $261,000.
The “hero” costume, which served as the uniform for Ferrell’s character Buddy the Elf in the film, is photo-matched to the elevator scene in which he pushes every button in the elevator to see them all lit up. According to Propstore, the costume comes originally from the film’s producer Jon Berg.
As is common in modern films, there were multiple nearly identical such costumes worn by Ferrell throughout the film. In 2022, Propstore sold another similar costume for around $270,000.
The 2022 costume has "Hero-1" written on an interior label. The costume selling in December has “Hero-3” on an interior label of the top and “Hero-2” on the interior of the shoes.
