Logan Paul will not be purchasing a section of game-used United Center floor signed by Michael Jordan, even after winning the lot at Heritage Auctions for $562,555 in August, sources told cllct.
The boxer and social-media influencer won the auction Aug. 23 and had a month to pay for the item. After information in the court's description gave him pause, however, he filed for an injunction and was issued a temporary restraining order that prohibited Heritage from compelling him to pay for the item until he could personally inspect the court.
On Wednesday, ESPN.com reported Paul's case was dismissed without prejudice, but documents from a Texas district court did not give a reason.
Cllct has learned the case was dropped because Paul is now moving on.
After both sides agreed to the temporary injunction, sources said Paul traveled to Heritage Auctions headquarters in Dallas and inspected the piece of United Center court.
Sources close to Paul said he loved the size of the Jordan signature — which very well could have been the largest signature MJ ever signed — but he was unable to validate the time period in which the court was used.
Heritage said the 8-foot by 8-foot section of the floor was used from 1994 to 1998, spanning the last three Bulls championships, based on representations made by Upper Deck and PSA.
Sources said Paul took pictures and video of the floor and brought it back to his new authentication team. That group told Paul they could not photo-match the piece to the Bulls court in 1994-98. The Bulls logo decal also did not line up with pictures from those years.
Cllct contacted Heritage Auctions to ask about the future of the item. The auction house did not return comment.
