Collector closing in on quest for every Michael Jordan NBA ticket

His Airness played 1,264 NBA games, and one Chicago collector is just 136 tickets away from amassing them all

Andrew Goldberg isn't done yet, but he has some sense of accomplishment after acquiring two NBA playoff tickets last week.

In 2015, the native Chicagoan decided to seek to collect every ticket from the famous 1995-96 season when the Bulls won 72 games.

"I was spending so much time on it, and saw how much was out there, that I just figured, why not do it all?" said Goldberg, the 52-year-old executive director of the Memphis Ballet.

And with that, he decided to collect every NBA regular-season, postseason and All-Star Game that Jordan played in, a total of 1,264 games.

"I've always been collecting things, whether it be comic books or baseball cards," Goldberg said. "I've never particularly been any good at it."

Goldberg now stands 136 tickets away, but he has finished the playoff set, thanks to recently getting a 1986 game against the Boston Celtics and a 1988 contest against the Detroit Pistons.

The 1986 game was the record-setting game when MJ set the NBA playoff record with 63 points in the Boston Garden. After the game, Larry Bird told reporters the performance was "God disguised as Michael Jordan."

Goldberg had held out because of the price of the record-setting game, but he finally decided to bite the bullet.

The other one was Game 2 of the 1988 playoffs against Detroit when Jordan's Bulls got their first ever playoff victory.

Goldberg doesn't want to say how much he has paid, but he has subsidized his quest by selling duplicate tickets.

Goldberg said his pursuit got off to a decent start with around 200 game stubs because, as a kid, he would save the tickets his father used as a Bulls season-ticket holder. The first year, he was able to buy or trade for 322 different tickets. The second year was 112. As he collected, there were fewer tickets to get. In 2025, he only got 19.

There are definitely some fans of teams who have seemingly done a less than admirable job of saving their tickets.

Shockingly, Goldberg needs 38 games from Jordan's days playing for the Washington Wizards.

"As far as the Bulls go, the two cities I need the most from are Atlanta (15 games) and Cleveland (10 games)," Goldberg said.

And his toughest Bulls season isn't Jordan's rookie season — those tickets sell for at least $700. He needs 14 from that year. It's actually the third season, the 1986-87 season — recall Jordan was injured for much of his second year -- and Goldberg needs 20 games.

What does his wife, Barbara, think of his collection/obsession?

"She knows there are worse habits men can have," Goldberg said.

"I'm really doing this as much for me as I am for my dad," Goldberg said. "He's the one who got me into basketball. Every time I get a ticket, I share the joy with him."

With Goldberg's goal of completing the set while his father, now 85, is still alive, he has decided — for the first time ever — to list what he needs, hoping anyone who might have the ticket saved comes to him.

So, without further ado, here are the 136 tickets Goldberg is missing. If you have any of these please email: AndrewLouis_one@yahoo.com.
