The magazine ran publications from 1995-2001, two years after JFK Jr.'s death.

Magazines have been somewhat collectible for a while, but we've never seen anything in the non-sports space like we are seeing with "George" Magazine.

Boosted by FX's anthology series, "Love Story," based on the romance of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, 70 copies of JFK Jr.'s defunct and unsuccessful play into publishing sold on eBay on Thursday alone.

And since the show began on Feb. 12, more than 115 copies of the inaugural issue from Sept. 2005 with Cindy Crawford dressed as George Washington on the cover, have sold in the $200 to $400 range. One copy, that closed on March 27, had an astounding 71 bids.

The magazine, hoping to tell stories on politics in a different style, lasted six years and folded in 2001 after losing $10 million. JFK Jr. battled with his co-publisher early on and the two split a year and a half in. In July 1999, JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette died in a plane crash and the magazine eventually sputtered.

So will issues be collectible? Time will tell, but it's not like the publication was rare. It's circulation of 400,000 issues made it the largest political publication in the country. Then again, "Sports Illustrated" printed millions upon millions of copies and the best of the best sell for north of $100,000.
