Pope Leo XIV was already dressed appropriately for playing at Wimbledon, as his garb is all white.
And now he has a tennis racket.
The newly elected pope met with ATP World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, and the 23-year-old Italian presented Pope Leo XIV with a black and white Head racket, the same model he uses.
Sinner is currently competing in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, also known as the Rome Open.
He met with Pope Leo XIV and gifted the pope the racket following his straight-sets victory over Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo to book a spot in the quarterfinals.
"Wimbledon would let me play," Pope Leo XIV joked.
The new pope is quite known already nationally as a big sports fan, having been a lifelong supporter of the White Sox in his hometown of Chicago.
