A Shopify error caused 2025 VeeFriends Topps Chrome hobby boxes, which can command as much as $600 on the secondary market, to be put on sale for $1, Vee Friends creator Gary Vaynerchuk confirmed to cllct Monday.

Vaynerchuk said hundreds of boxes were sold at the incorrect price in a four- to five-minute period before the mistake was realized. The retail price is around $139.99 per box.

"36x Topps VeeFriends Chrome 2025 Hobby boxes are arriving Monday for $1 each on a price error we posted I can't BELIEVE these actually shipped," said a Facebook post on FlipFlip resellers, which has a following of 24,000.

Vaynerchuk said his company sent an e-mail went to the top 10 buyers of the boxes, asking them whether they would be interested in a "buy back/return" program.

"We want them back simply because there's not thousands of boxes out there," Vaynerchuk said.

The social-media influencer and brand firm owner began marketing his animal drawings in 2021 as NFTs. Sales of the NFTs alone have done $268 million in transactions, according to NFT market tracking site Cryptoslam. Five of his original VeeFriends sold at Christies in Oct. 2021 for $1.2 million.

The record for a card bought out of the VeeFriends Topps Chrome set was the $2,000 paid in June for the Major Moth 1/1 Cosmic Chrome.
