Just hours after fans booed the Texas Longhorns off the field following their sluggish 27-10 victory over UTEP on Saturday, one collector went all-in on Arch Manning, spending $34,160 for his 2024 Prizm Draft Picks Gold Vinyl 1/1.

Considered among Manning’s best cards to date, the card of the Texas quarterback set a record for a traditional public auction, according to Card Ladder’s records. The previous high for Manning was the $20,000 paid for the same Gold Vinyl 1/1 in July.

The public record for a Manning card at any auction is the $102,500 paid for his Prizm Black 1/1, which sold directly through Panini America’s website in 2023, with proceeds benefiting charity.

Saturday’s auction is a stunning result for Manning following his extensive struggles to start the season. An early favorite to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in either the 2026 or 2027 NFL Drafts, Manning has passed for 579 yards and six touchdowns through three games, though nearly 300 yards and four TDs came in a 38-7 victory over winless San Jose State.

Manning’s struggles started in a Week 1 road game against Ohio State when he passed for just 170 yards, one TD and one interception in a 14-7 loss. The Longhorns cruised past San Jose State in Week 2, but looked underwhelming again in a 27-10 win over UTEP, which was a 40-point underdog.

Frustration seemed to peak in the first half when fans showered the Longhorns with boos after a third-down Manning pass was nearly intercepted with Texas up just 7-3. Manning finished with only 114 yards, one TD and one interception on 11-for-25 passing.

Though Manning has struggled to begin 2025, his popularity has been undeniable among high-end collectors. So far in 2025, Card Ladder has logged three sales of $10,000 or more and 17 sales of $5,000 or more for Manning.

Often compared to his uncles, Peyton and Eli (both two-time Super Bowl champions), Arch Manning nearly eclipsed the public record of $37,000 paid for any Eli card, according to Card Ladder.

The record for any Peyton Manning card is $207,400.
