A 2025 Topps Chrome SpongeBob triple autograph card, featuring signatures from three of the hit TV show’s main voice actors, sold for a record $21,500 on Sunday.
The highest price paid for any SpongeBob card at public auction, according to Card Ladder’s records, the 1/1 Superfractor featured autographs from Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick) and Rodger Bumpass (Squidward).
The record result is the fourth sale of $10,000 or more logged by Card Ladder from the 2025 Topps Chrome SpongeBob 25th Anniversary set, which released Oct. 1.
Prior to the release of the 25th anniversary set, the record for any SpongeBob card was the $6,000 paid for a sketch card from the 2009 Topps SpongeBob SquarePants set drawn by show animator Paul Tibbitt.
Largely driven by interest in short-printed parallels and 1/1 sketch cards, prices for sealed boxes of the set have surged on the secondary market. Hobby boxes, which originally retailed for $259.99 each, peaked at $550 and are currently averaging $450, according to data tool Waxstat.
The success for 2025 Topps Chrome SpongeBob is the latest win for Topps’ entertainment and pop-culture division, which also released 2025 Topps Chrome Disney on Sept. 24. Prices for Topps Chrome Disney have also soared on the secondary market, with hobby boxes once reaching $800 after originally retailing for $419.99.
SpongeBob SquarePants debuted on Nickelodeon in 1999 and started its 16th season in June. The show passed “Arthur” as the longest running animated show for kids in February.
