A 1966 Topps Batman No. 1, graded PSA 9, set a public record for the card when it sold for $131,250 at Heritage Auctions on Thursday night.
Painted by famed American artist Norman Saunders, the card is considered Batman's rookie and ranks among the most important pop-culture trading cards ever created.
According to PSA’s population report, only 13 of the 2,455 graded copies have earned PSA 9 grades. There are no PSA 10 examples.
The current public record for the card is the $45,000 paid for another PSA 9 example at Heritage in June 2024, according to data tool Card Ladder.
The card comes from the top-ranked set on the PSA Registry, per Heritage.
