A record 2.7 million trading cards were graded by the major authenticators in October, according to the latest monthly report from third-party grading tracker GemRate.

PSA led all authenticators with more than 1.97 million cards graded, including 1.27 million TCG and non-sports cards and more than 700,000 sports cards. October’s total is an all-time high for PSA, a 27% increase over September and a 36% increase year-over-year.

SGC graded just 50,000 cards in October to set a new low for the company since GemRate began tracking data in 2022. SGC’s total is a 16% decrease from September and a 69% decrease year-over-year.

SGC’s continued decline follows plans by parent company Collectors to scale down the brand into a “boutique” grader. October is the third consecutive month of decline for SGC following the departure of president Peter Steinberg.

Beckett graded more than 93,000 cards in October for a 21% increase from September and an 86% increase year-over-year. Led by more than 65,000 TCG and non-sports submissions, October’s total is Beckett’s highest since GemRate began tracking data.

GemRate also tracked more than 51,000 submissions for TAG in October, representing a 43% increase year-over-year. More than 48,000 of TAG’s total was TCG and non-sports submissions.
