Within minutes of Carlos Alcaraz completing his historic comeback against Jannik Sinner to claim his second French Open title, collectors flocked to Goldin Auctions where the 22-year-old’s best card was sitting on the auction block.
When the day began, bidding on the autographed “Golden Slam” 1/1 NetPro rookie card had already surpassed the previous record high for an Alcaraz card of $33,665, with bidding reaching $35,380, including buyer’s premium.
But another bid came in around the beginning of Sunday's epic match, and another within 10 minutes of its conclusion, followed by four more, to drive the auction to $61,000, with more than two weeks remaining.
Topps got in on the action too, announcing a 1/1 dual autograph Topps NOW card featuring Alcaraz and Coco Gauff — the men’s and women’s champions at Roland-Garros.
The only tennis players with more expensive card sales than Alcaraz are Serena Williams ($266,400) and Roger Federer ($181,200).
