Jacob Misiorowski, the 6-foot-7, flame-throwing right-hander for the Milwaukee Brewers, certainly knows how to make an entrance.

Known as “The Miz,” the 23-year-old Missouri native was taken 63rd overall in the second round of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Crowder College — the highest draft pick from the school since 1983.

After quickly ascending the minor-league ranks and reaching the team’s Triple-A affiliate in 2024, Misiorowski’s name was in the mix for a call-up to the Brewers bullpen. But it would not be until June 12 last month when The Miz received the nod.

In his first start, he dazzled with five hitless innings, including a 102-mph fastball in the first inning, which set a record for the fastest pitch thrown by a Brewers starter in the pitch-tracking era, according to The Athletic.

Naturally, card collectors began to notice.

Prior to his call-up, there were a little more than 5,000 Misiorowski card sales logged by Card Ladder. The top sale came in July 2023 for a 2022 Bowman Chrome True Red Refractor Auto /5, which fetched $4,999.99. Just seven sales had cleared $1,000.

In the week following his debut and prior to his second start June 20, Card Ladder tracked an additional 1,778 sales. Of those, 11 were for more than $1,000.

Then came start No. 2, in which Misiorowski went six innings and allowed just one hit and two runs. Along the way, he became the first pitcher since at least 1900 to begin his career with 11 scoreless innings.

Unsurprisingly, the hype around his cards continued. In the five days between his second and third starts, Card Ladder logged another 1,879 sales, including 38 of $1,000 or more. Of those sales, six surpassed his previous record.

Start No. 3 came with five more innings of no-run ball, just two hits and eight strikeouts. That same day, another new record high was set for a Misiorowski card ($10,250).

Between his third start (June 25) and his fourth (July 2), Card Ladder recorded 2,371 sales — a stunning 79 of which cleared $1,000. Once again, a new high was established of $17,600.

On July 11, following his fifth MLB start, Misiorowski was named an All-Star after the fewest appearances in history, an honor previously owned by Paul Skenes, who made the Midsummer Classic after just 11 games as a rookie in 2024.

According to Market Movers, the sales total for Misiorowski’s cards in the past year has been $232,500, an increase of 178%. Nearly 90% of that sales volume has occurred in the past 30 days, which saw an increase of 219% and an average price increase of 95%.

Misiorowski’s 2022 Bowman 1st Draft Sapphire has seen the most drastic increase in price, jumping from $2.99 to as high as $82.50 over the past year (+2,659%) on 245 sales, according to Market Movers.

One collector paid $400 for a 2022 Bowman Draft Sparkle Refractor Auto /71 PSA 10 on June 15, just three days after Misiorowski’s debut. The next comparable sale for that card came less than a month later on July 5 for $4,350.

With Misiorowski now an All-Star just five starts into his career, are we about to see the next Paul Skenes? If he continues to dominate at this rate, it seems possible. Many collectors and prospectors certainly are banking on it.
