One of the best Connor McDavid rookie cards sold for $305,000 on Friday night at Heritage Auctions, setting a record for any McDavid card sold at public auction.
The 2015 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Rookie Spectrum Teal Autograph Shield 1/1 features an event-used patch of the NHL shield and an on-card autograph from McDavid.
Prior to Friday, the record for any McDavid card at public auction was the $228,000 paid for a 2015 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Patch Autograph PSA 10 /99 at Heritage in July 2022.
Holdered as PSA Authentic, the card previously sold for $181,800 at Goldin in 2023, according to data tool Card Ladder.
The record-setting McDavid sale arrives amid Edmonton’s run to the Western Conference final for the second straight season after a 4-1 series win over Las Vegas on Wednesday.
According to Market Movers, McDavid has been one of the most popular hockey players among collectors over the last 365 days, with the platform tracking more than 3,600 sales over that time period — the fourth-most among all hockey players and the second-most among active players, behind only Connor Bedard.
