The anonymous collector Kabuto King, who has gone viral for a quest to collect every 1st Edition Kabuto Pokémon card in the world, is looking to capitalize on the publicity for good.

Kabuto King has signed one card in the collection and listed it for auction on eBay, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude’s.

“This is the first ever 1st edition Kabuto I’ve signed, and the only one to ever leave my collection. I want to use this moment to support a good cause,” Kabuto King wrote on X.

With two days left at auction, bidding has reached $12,900 — already blowing past the previous record for the previously unheralded TCG card.

As of Friday morning, Kabuto King had acquired 1,799 Kabuto cards, aided in part by the launch of a meme coin $KABUTO, which pays the collector creator fees.
