Celebrity and entrepreneur Logan Paul is selling his record-setting Pokémon card and told cllct he plans to settle issues surrounding the card’s joint ownership with defunct platform Liquid Marketplace.
Consigned during an episode of Netflix's "King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch," the 1998 Pokémon Japanese Promo Pikachu Illustrator PSA 10 is set to sell as part of Goldin’s 2026 Pokémon & TCG Auction.
Goldin founder and CEO Ken Goldin advanced Paul $2.5 million to consign the card.

Paul originally acquired the card in a private transaction for $5.275 million in 2021, making it the most expensive Pokémon card sold to date.
Prior to being consigned to Goldin, the card was listed on Liquid Marketplace, a platform co-founded by Paul that allows users to buy fractionalized pieces of high-end collectibles. Co-owners of items are paid based on their ownership stakes when items are sold.
Considered among the rarest and most important Pokémon cards in existence, the Illustrator was originally listed for fractionalized ownership on the platform at a $5 million valuation, with Paul retaining 49% ownership.
Paul told cllct Tuesday he purchased Liquid Marketplace’s interest in the card for $250,000 in May 2024.
Some users have been unable to access those payouts from the sale with the platform inaccessible. Attempts to reach the website Tuesday afternoon were met with an error.
The platform last posted to its official X account in January 2023 and to its official Instagram account in September 2023.
"We were told that the funds had been redistributed, and I assumed that was the case," Paul told cllct. "When I put my card up for auction, it was news to me that people on the platform couldn’t withdraw their money.”
Paul says he wasn’t informed of the issue, which he said was the result of the Canadian government investigating whether the Toronto-based company had the right to fractionalize the card without being licensed in trading securities. However, Paul said he knew it would be important for those who invested in the card to get their money out as soon as possible.
In June 2024, the Ontario Securities Commission filed an application for enforcement proceedings against the company and its executives alleging “multi-layered fraud in the crypto asset sector.”
Paul was not named in the application, which is now expected to be heard in June 2026.
Paul told cllct he is paying site developers to unlock the site and identify interested parties who have not been paid. Paul believes money will be able to be withdrawn once the site is reopened.
“We’ve been told this can happen in two to three weeks so that this can be resolved before the card is sold,” Paul said.
Paul added he is aware of some Liquid owners who have already withdrawn their money to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.
The auction for the card opens Monday and will close Feb. 8.
In addition to the card, the winner will receive the custom diamond necklace case used by Paul when he made his wrestling debut at Wrestlemania 38. Paul wore the card around his neck at the event and was later presented with a certificate recognizing the card as the Guinness World Record-holder for the most expensive Pokémon card of all time.
According to the item’s lot description, Paul will hand-deliver the card to the winning bidder anywhere in the world.
