A strong collectible following for New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart isn’t a surprising development, but a surge in interest for teammate Cam Skattebo is, and the duo might just be in line as the next pair of hobby darlings at their current trajectory.

Drafted No. 25 overall in April, Dart combines two of the hobby’s favorite attributes as a rookie QB with a popular franchise. Dart was originally expected to sit and learn behind starter Russell Wilson, but uninspiring play from the veteran paved the way for the Dart's debut as a starter in Week 4.

Entering Week 7, Dart has led the Giants to wins in two out of three games — including a 34-17 stunner over the Eagles last Thursday night — and collectors have quickly adjusted course.

Third-party grading tracker GemRate reported collectors spent more than $366,000 on Dart’s trading cards through eBay in September for a 19% increase over August.

Data tool Market Movers reports a similar trajectory across a number of marketplaces, with Dart’s market up nearly 26% collectively across more than 3,400 sales over the last 30 days.

Dart’s best-selling PSA 10 example over the last 30 days, according to Market Movers, has been his 2024 Bowman Best University Best of 2024 Autographs Refractor, which has jumped from $350 to $450 across six sales. His 2024 Select XRC Prizm PSA 10, which is considered one of his top early issues, is now trending close to $1,300 following five sales over the last month.

Skattebo has also experienced a surge in interest from collectors — a much more surprising development due to the hobby’s general trepidation toward running backs. The rookie's particularly violent approach to contact seems to have won some fans over, and possibly plays a part in bucking traditional collecting trends if he continues to score touchdowns at his current pace.

According to GemRate, collectors spent nearly $160,000 on Skattebo cards on eBay in September for a 173% increase over August’s roughly $58,000.

Skattebo’s key cards tracked by Market Movers show a less impressive total, but do show growth with a 36% price increase over the last 30 days.

According to Market Movers, Skattebo’s 2024 1st Bowman Chrome University Prospect Autograph PSA 10 has been a key example with six sales and a 58% price increase to roughly $290 over the last month.

A key area to monitor for both Dart and Skattebo will be, of course, how the Giants play in the coming weeks. Poor play, from either or the team collectively, can doom a card market, and rookies are especially susceptible.

Some interest in Dart and Skattebo could also be driven by the hobby’s lack of excitement for No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward and No. 6 pick Ashton Jeanty.

Hobbyists have a finite amount of dollars to spend, and a record sale for Dart one month could be reallocated to a breakout stretch for Ward or anyone else at a moment’s notice.

The next key market for collectors to watch for will be the release of signature sets from Panini America. Cards featuring the pair in their Giants uniforms are currently limited, but important releases, including 2025 Mosaic Football and 2025 Prizm Football, are scheduled to land in early November.

Key rookies for Dart and Skattebo from 2025 Prizm Football will be especially critical and are likely to deliver record prices whenever they land at public auction. Assuming the hobby’s excitement lasts that long.
