A 1977 Topps "Star Wars" Princess Leia Organa No. 5 card sold for a record $10,850 on eBay on Sunday night, the highest price ever paid for the card at public auction.
The 1977 Topps "Star Wars" sets is one of the most significant and impactful non-sports card offerings ever produced. Released in five series distinguished by the color of their borders, the 330-card set features iconic characters, including Princess Leia — who appears multiple times throughout the issue — and scenes from the film.
The record-setting card is one of 15 PSA 10 examples. PSA has graded 1,723 total copies in all grades.
Luke Skywalker’s No. 1 card is the most expensive card from the set, with a PSA 10 copy fetching $78,000 in November 2023.
Sealed boxes of the set are also popular collectors items, with the complete five-box series fetching as much as $24,600 at auction previously.
