The graded TCG and non-sports card market continues to significantly outpace sports card submissions, according to new data from third-party grading tracker GemRate.
Released Monday, GemRate’s recap of August’s grading totals showed more than 1.45 million TCG and non-sports cards graded by the four major authenticators, including 1.01 million graded by PSA alone.
SGC graded roughly 118,000 cards in its first full month since president Peter Steinberg resigned amid plans for the company to scale down to a "boutique" brand.

The total eclipses the roughly 839,000 sports cards graded by the four major companies combined.
August’s 2.28 million total graded cards is down 1% compared to July, but up 27% year-over-year.
August also marked the first full month of grading for SGC since the resignation of president Peter Steinberg. SGC graded 118,000 cards total, which is down 23% from July.
Steinberg resigned in July amid plans for the company to be scaled down to what PSA president Ryan Hoge described as a “boutique” brand. SGC was acquired by PSA parent company Collectors in February 2024.
According to GemRate, SGC’s August total is the lowest for the company since September 2023.
