Thieves tunnel into card shop, steal nearly $30,000 in merchandise

Thieves broke into adjacent restaurant and then tunneled through wall into shop

Nearly $30,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from a Los Angeles card store Thursday morning after burglars tunneled their way into the shop.

According to the LAPD, three to four suspects smashed the front glass door of a restaurant next door before tunneling through the wall to get inside the Cards & Coffee trading card shop in Woodland Hills.

The store owner said this is the second time his store has been robbed. The shop has security bars covering the glass storefront, as well as cameras, which "may have captured the suspects in action," per CBS News LA.

At least one of the burglars likely cut themselves while smashing glass cases inside the store, as blood was found in the aftermath.

The investigation is ongoing.

This burglary comes just one week after another Burbank shop, LA Sports Cards, was robbed of $100,000 worth of merchandise.
