A 2021 Absolute Tom Brady Green Kaboom 1/1 card sold for $660,000 Thursday at Fanatics Collect, notching the highest price ever paid for the iconic insert.
The previous high for a Kaboom card was the $385,080 paid in a private sale for a 2018 Lionel Messi Gold Kaboom /10 in August, according to data tool Card Ladder.
Kaboom inserts are among the most desirable and valuable cards in the hobby and have emerged as some of the key high-end chases of the modern era.
Kaboom was first introduced by Panini in 2013 and later added to Absolute Football in 2019. In 2021, Panini included 49 of the NFL’s top stars in the insert set, with Brady appearing twice — once in a Patriots uniform (seen on the record-setting card) and again in his Buccaneers uniform.
The same card sold in 2022 for $188,400.
Thursday’s sale is also the highest price ever paid for a non-rookie Brady card, with all higher Brady sales belonging to his 2000 Playoff Contenders card.
