With a combined 2,337 home runs between them, Sadaharu Oh, Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron were featured on the the biggest chase card from the 2024 Topps Transcendent cut signature booklet earlier this year.
The booklet, featuring autographs from all three sluggers, is now at auction at Goldin with a current bid of $12,200 (including buyer’s premium).
Topps and Oh first reached a deal last November, allowing the company to include Oh in more than a dozen baseball products in 2024 and 2025, including Topps Chrome Update, Definitive and Luminaries.
Some of the splashiest cards from Transcendent have long included cut autographs from multiple famous subjects fused together, including a quad cut card of Ruth, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson in 2020 and another of Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Satchel Paige and Larry Doby.
This is not the first time Aaron and Ruth have shared cardboard real estate. In 1973, Topps released a card celebrating the (then) all-time home run leaders of Aaron, Ruth and Willie Mays. Upper Deck produced a card in 1999 of the same trio featuring pieces of each of their bats.
Last year Leaf released an unlicensed card featuring Ruth, Oh and Aaron.
Oh’s most expensive card sale to date is the $72,000 paid for his 1959 Marumatsu Scoreboard card in a PSA 9 in August 2022.
