Six months ago, the word “Labubu” would have sounded like gibberish to nearly all Americans.
Today, celebrities are being photographed with the toys on the daily, and TikTok influencers are co-opting the word as a pet-name for their boyfriends. Conspiracy theorists (also on TikTok, obviously) have even theorized the dolls are somehow connected to an ancient demon called Pazuzu.

Though the craze has yet to be officially dubbed a term equivalent to Pokemania — Labub-ooyah? Labubification? — there is little doubt the über-popular dolls are taking over the collectible world and beyond.
Which celebrities are getting in on the Labubu Life?
Some point to Lalisa Manoban (known as simply "Lisa"), the Thai K-pop singer from the group Blackpink (who also had a starring role in the most recent season of HBO's "The White Lotus"), as the one who sent Labubus into the stratosphere after she was spotted wearing one on her bag in 2024.
Since then, it seems like every celebrity is following in her footsteps.
Tennis player Qinwen Zheng gifted Carlos Alcaraz a Labubu at Wimbledon ahead of the first round of matches.
Katy Perry knocked a Labubu out of the hands of one of her fans at a show.
Dua Lipa, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have all been seen with the toys on their bags.

How many Labubus are there?
According to Rolling Stone, more than 300 Labubu variants have been released in multiple series over the past few years.
Where can I get a Labubu?
Your best bet is on the secondary market. Platforms such as StockX and eBay are the most popular places to find blind boxes and unboxed Labubus.

Just how crazy is the resale market?
Looking only on eBay, via its sales history tool terapeak, a search for the word “Labubu” turns up a high sale of $3,277.50, more than 3,500 sales each day and over 7,200 sellers in the last month alone.
A number of Labubu are available for "Buy It Now" options on eBay in the $30 to $50 range — although the more popular ones can hit triple digits. The dolls retail for $20-$30 on the primary market.
Which Labubus are most popular?
The most popular Labubus come from The Monsters series, including Exciting Macaron, Have a Seat and Big Into Energy.
According to New York Magazine “each new series includes a 'secret,' rare Labubu (with a 1 in 72 chance of discovery) that features a special color, pose, or design detail.”
