Could a new Pokémon record be on the horizon?
Bidding for Logan Paul’s 1998 Pokémon Japanese Promo Pikachu Illustrator PSA 10 has topped $4 million, including buyer’s premium, with 34 days remaining in the auction at Goldin.
Set to close Feb. 15 as part of Goldin’s 2026 Pokémon and TCG Auction, the auction reached $4.34 million Monday morning after 39 bids.
Purchased by Paul in a private transaction for $5.275 million in 2021, the Pikachu Illustrator is the most expensive Pokémon sold to date.
The card’s current bid would make it the most expensive Pokémon card sold at public auction and the first to top $1 million. According to Card Ladder’s records, three non-sports cards have eclipsed $1 million, all via private sale.
Consigned to Goldin during an episode of Netflix’s “King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch,” Paul’s Illustrator has been one of the most high-profile trading cards to hit the auction block.
The card’s consignment surprised some collectors after it was originally listed for sale on Liquid Marketplace, a platform co-founded by Paul that allows hobbyists to purchase fractionalized pieces of collectibles.
Originally listed with a valuation of $5 million, Paul told cllct he bought back the platform’s stake in the card for $250,000 in May 2024, and he is working with site developers to reopen the platform so users can access any funds paid out from his reacquisition.
