Boston College announced Friday that it has struck a landmark deal with cllct, the world’s only memorabilia consultancy, to help the athletics department build and launch its own line of authenticated relic products — from the school, by the school, and for the first time, available directly to fans.
The partnership turns the traditional merchandising model on its head. Instead of a third-party merchandiser owning and distributing inventory, Boston College will control, authenticate and profit from its own legacy, with cllct providing the infrastructure, creative and commercialization expertise behind the operation.
The new platform, Eagle Heritage Authentics, will celebrate the university’s proud athletic history through bespoke, high-end collectible pieces that bring Boston College’s most iconic moments into fans’ homes.
From “Hail Flutie” to the program’s long-standing hockey dominance, each artifact will tell a story of pride, perseverance and legacy.
“Boston College has one of the most passionate and tradition-rich fan bases in college athletics,” said Blake James, William V. Campbell Director of Athletics. “Eagle Heritage Authentics gives us a way to celebrate that history, honor our student-athletes past and present, and offer fans the opportunity to own a piece of what makes BC so special.”
The program will roll out in three phases:
- Hero Relics: Limited-edition collectibles sourced from the university’s most historical athletic moments
- Legacy Premium Collectibles: Premium commemoratives celebrating the greats who defined BC sports
- Fan Editions: Accessible, authenticated collectibles featuring current student-athletes and teams
Current athletes will directly benefit through organized and transparent NIL revenue participation, providing a new pathway for student-athletes to share in the value of their school’s collectibles ecosystem.
“We’re honored to partner with Boston College on such an important and innovative project,” said Steven Ziff, CEO of cllct. “Our goal is to help schools like BC preserve their legacy while creating pathways for engagement, storytelling, and NIL revenue. Eagle Heritage Authentics will become a living, evolving celebration of what it means to be an Eagle and a BC superfan.”
This partnership marks another major milestone for cllct, which is helping redefine how institutions and properties manage and monetize their own history. The company is currently developing projects around the 100th anniversaries of multiple iconic organizations, including the Harlem Globetrotters, and programs with Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Capitals, Wizards, Mystics, and Capital One Arena), the New York Islanders and St. John’s University.
