For the second time this week, a modern sports card has hit the $3 million mark.
A 2003 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant Dual Logoman 1/1, which was owned by Collectors CEO Nat Turner, sold for $3.17 million in lot No. 1 at Heritage’s December Winter Sports Auction.
The sale comes one day after a Shohei Ohtani Gold Logoman 1/1 sold for $3 million, the highest price ever for a baseball card created during the ultra-modern era.
Collectors is the parent company of grading brands PSA, SGC and PCGS and data tool Card Ladder. Turner's company also made headlines this week when it acquired Beckett, further consolidating the grading industry.
Released as part of Exquisite Collection’s debut in 2003, the card features game-used patches from both Jordan and Bryant. Jordan’s patch was worn while a member of the Washington Wizards.
