Collectors spent more than $375 million on sports and trading cards online in November, according to Card Ladder.
November’s total is the fourth-highest recorded by Card Ladder in a single month, but represents a small decline from the more than $392 million spent in October.
The August total of $422 million is currently the highest recorded by the data tool.
Card Ladder’s Industry Page records sales from a variety of marketplaces and attempts to capture the overall health of the industry’s secondary market. First-party sales directly from the manufacturer, sales from online retailers and card shows aren’t included in the monthly totals.
Private sales are included when reported and verified by the tool. November’s total will also increase as additional sales are retroactively verified and added.
Online marketplace eBay led November with more than $280 million in sales logged by Card Ladder. Fanatics recorded more than $47 million, Goldin recorded nearly $30 million, and Alt posted more than $16 million.
The most expensive card sold in November, according to Card Ladder, was the $660,000 paid for the 2021 Absolute Tom Brady Green Kaboom 1/1 at Fanatics Collect.
November’s 2.23 million graded cards was also a decline from a record 2.7 million in October, according to GemRate. The lower total was caused by fewer business days across the month.
